Shawn has been taking a break from life on the road. He canceled his Wonder: The World tour shortly after it began on June 27, citing mental health reasons.
He originally postponed the tour for a few weeks on July 8, but ended up calling the whole thing off for the time being July 27. In a heartfelt note to his millions of fans, the Senorita singer wrote that he was excited to get back to performing live after the pandemic, but ‘the reality is I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away.’
‘After speaking with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger.’

The Canadian crooner taught himself to play guitar when he was 14 by watching YouTube tutorials. He later began posting covers on the streaming site, and started seeing success when he released his version of Justin Bieber’s As Long As You Love Me on Vine. In April 2014, he won Ryan Seacrest’s Best Cover Song contest and released his first single, Life of the Party in June of that year.
The There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back singer expressed that he was never particularly fond of spending lengthy periods of time away from his loved ones.
‘I’ve been touring since I was 15 and to be honest it’s always been difficult to be on the road away from friends and family,’ he said.

In 2018, Shawn revealed on The Dan Wootton Interview podcast, that he had been undergoing therapy to deal with anxiety.
‘I spoke to a therapist a couple of times. Therapy is what works for you – climbing a mountain, listening to music and running on the treadmill, going to dinner with your friends – it’s something that distracts you, that helps you heal and so it just depends on what you think therapy is.’
‘I made a conscious effort to be more connected to the people in my life. I found I was closing myself off from everybody, thinking that would help me battle it… then realizing the only way I was going to battle it was completely opening up and letting people in.’
