Horror crash leaves FIVE dead after their car careered into a tree on a country road – as the sole survivor fights for life in hospital

At least five people have died and another was rushed to hospital after a horror car crash just after 8pm on Tuesday.

The Nissan Navara reportedly lost control and slammed into a tree on East Parade, Buxton, a town of around 1000, near Picton, 100km southwest of Sydney.

The 18-year-old male car driver, survived. His injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

All of the deceased are reported to be adults.

The emergency services were called to the scene where they treated multiple patients.

‘Rescue trucks from Picton are assisting numerous (emergency crews) at a serious crash on East Parade involving numerous casualties,’ Fire and Rescue NSW said

‘A medical team that arrived by helicopter is also in attendance.’

A man who lives near to the crash scene said he heard sirens shortly after the incident.

‘We heard the emergency services vehicles responding really quickly and saw the lights flashing, it lit up the whole street,’ Justin Davis told The Daily Telegraph.

He said a helicopter landed in a nearby field.

Mr Davis said the area is usually a very quiet one.

‘Even when kids ride their motorbikes along the streets they do it quietly,’ he said.

Images from the scene show the car torn to pieces near the front of houses as distraught locals arrived to the devastation.

Residents are being interviewed by police.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened near Buxton’s town center.
